SPF GOT ME LIKE...

Having grown up 5 minutes from the beach, I spent every day of summer glued to the sand and under the sun. Since I could remember my mom would constantly say, “Lindsay, always use SPF, you’ll regret it later”. I would reply “ya whatever mom” eye roll… Although I always took what my mom said with a grain of salt, I KNEW she was right about that.

I started getting in tune with my skin in my late teens/ early twenties but never was consistent. Every once in a while I’d buy some good ol Oil of Olay and slap sunscreen on when I remembered. In my mid twenties I was more conscious about my skin and what I was using. However, I had just had my first baby and I put myself on the back burner resulting in a ‘I’m too tired, and don’t care’ attitude. As time went on, and after having my second baby, I really started to notice differences. This last year especially,  I could see my skin ACTUALLY aging. Losing elasticity with never-ending lines down the sides of my eyes and enough dryness to claim a facial drought. My skin itself looked about 10 years older than the rest of my friends.

It wasn’t until I went to Ulta a few months ago. I asked the girl if she could recommend a good under eye concealer. She picked one out and started to dab it under my eyes. She gave me a mirror to look at it. I held it up and I could see out of the corner of my eye a cringed look on the girl’s face. The concealer crumbled under my eyes due to excessive dryness and settled in every crevice on my face. I said to the girl, “This looks really bad on me”. She replied, “Don’t take this the wrong way, but you have some of the worst premature skin aging I’ve seen, don’t you use SPF and a daily skin regimen?” I wanted to karate kick her in the side and say, I HAVE 2 KIDS YOU ASSHOLE, NO I DON’T HAVE AN EFFING SKIN REGIMEN, I’M TOO TIRED TO THINK ABOUT MY FACE BEFORE BED AND TOO SIDE TRACKED WITH MY 2 CRAZY KIDS TO REMEMBER IN THE MORNING!!!! Buuuut she was right. My skin looked like shit and there was really no excuse for me not taking care of it.

So,  a friend of mine introduced me to Korean skin care. (I will do many more specific posts about it), and man has it been a life changer. My skin is moisturized, fresh, and I really am seeing a huge difference in the elasticity and overall youthfulness.

To get back to SPF, there is one product in particular that is HEAVEN!!!!!

It’s by a brand called Kicho, ultra moisturizing sun cream. It’s SPF 50 and it leaves your skin extremely soft and moisturized, leaving out the oily and unpleasant smell of standard sunscreen. The bottle is real cute too which is an added bonus in my book. You can purchase it for $36 at peachandlilly.com. That’s like 5 In n Out meals. No biggie.

I promise you, you won’t regret it.
